The opening night of the Scientific Conference was dedicated to the memory of war through art, featuring the screening of the documentary “Ferdonija” followed by a panel discussion on the themes it addresses.
The session was moderated by Drilon Selmani, who guided the conversation toward the human, historical, and cultural dimensions of the film’s narrative.
The documentary tells the story of Mother Ferdonije and other women who continue searching for their family members forcibly disappeared during the war in Kosovo, portraying loss, emotional void, and the ongoing struggle for justice and historical recognition.
During the panel, director Gazmend Bajri shared his creative experience, the challenges of the production process, and his artistic approach to addressing war-related themes, emphasizing the role of cinema as a bridge between history and the public.
The discussion highlighted the film as an important medium for documenting personal and social experiences and for fostering public dialogue about the past, underlining the role of art in preserving historical memory.
