These moving images from the mass exodus of Albanians during 1999 reveal one of the darkest pages of our history. Women, children and old people, crying bitterly, bear witness to the sadness of innocent civilians, victims of the Serbian offensive for ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. The pain and suffering were extraordinary, but even greater was the desire and determination of the Albanian people to return and rebuild their homeland.
