26th Anniversary of the Recak Massacre: Memory, Documentation and Justice

Today, we commemorate the 26th anniversary of the Recak Massacre, an event that is not only a testimony of the pain of our people, but also of extraordinary courage. The inhabitants of < or >Recake, did not give up in the face of terror, their sacrifice and courage to face injustice inspire us even today. But what changed history was also the literal record of this massacre. Through professional and accurate evidence collected by international observers, namely Ambassador William Walker, the truth about the crimes committed in Reçak was brought to light. This documentation not only shredded the world, but mobilized international support and led to NATO’s decisive intervention, which helped stop the violence and save thousands of lives.

Therefore, the Recak Massacre is a call to never forget the sacrifice of our people and to continue to work for a proper record of all crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, consequently for a more just and peaceful future.
